The Mighty No. 9     Mighty No. 9 – HD Gameplay Footage More brand new gameplay footage from the developers behind the upcoming platformer created by Keiji Inafune. Mighty No. 9 is an upcoming action-platform video game in development by Comcept in conjunction with Inti Creates, and directed by Keiji Inafune. The creation of the game was based on the online crowdfunding website, Kickstarter, and incorporates heavy input from the public. Mighty No. 9 very closely resembles another Inafune creation, Mega Man, in both gameplay and character design, and is considered by many as its spiritual successor. It will also be the fourth released game by development studio Comcept. The minimum Kickstarter goal for Mighty No. 9 was successfully funded on September 2, 2013, after only two days of the creation of the page. However, several other features including additional stages, special modes and ports to other platforms were confirmed after additional “stretch goals” related to it were achieved, increasing the total funds obtained to over 400% of the original goal. World In the year 20XX – In a world where robotic engineering has greatly advanced. World panic caused the collapse of capitalism and brought about a new socialism, under which the government had manual labor mechanized and food, clothing and shelter was thoroughly managed. The principle of competition was lost and warring ended, bringing about what seemed to be an everlasting peace. Although robotic advancements helped to maintain public order and development, people began to feel suppression and social stress due to these peace keeping measurements. As an outlet, a government sponsored public robot battle competition known as the “Battle Colosseum” was created. Little did they know, a new threat to mankind was afoot. Story Dr. White created 9 robot siblings known as the “Mighty Numbers”, who were the most popular and powerful team of robots in the Battle Colosseum and always in the top ranks. But, during one competition there was a sudden act of cyber terror, infecting them with a computer virus causing them to become crazed and rampant. The crazed siblings took control of various key facilities and utilities. The virus continued to spread to all the robots of the world. It is now up to the lone Mighty No.9 “Beck”, who remains unaffected by the virus. Beck, who had always been the weakest link on the team, was now entrusted with the future of all humanity! Salt and Sanctuary casts you as a sailor shipwrecked on a strange, purgatorial island, insulated somehow against a backdrop of centuries-old worldwide perpetual war. What hope remains is isolated in Sanctuaries, protected dwellings where travellers can band together under common creeds to take shelter from the hostile world outside. In Salt and Sanctuary the emphasis is stylistic sidescrolling combat: weapons have move-sets, air attacks have hang time, rolling is king and there’s a huge amount of depth to the combat. Weapons can be one-handed and paired with shields or offhand crossbows for versatility, or wielded two-handed for added power, and every configuration has its own unique move-set. There are staffs for magic, bows for ranged combat, and belt-slotted consumables like throwing daggers and weapon-buffing Pitchfire. Of course, load-out weight affects your movement, rolling speed and stamina regen, so a good balance of defence and agility is key. Basically, it combines two things: fast, precise 2D combat and super strategic RPG depth. The PlayStation Network and Sony Entertainment Network are back online and people can now enjoy the services on their PlayStation devices. The networks were taken offline due to a distributed denial of service attack. We have seen no evidence of any intrusion to the network itself and no evidence of any unauthorized access to users’ personal information. In light of today’s issue, the networks will not undergo the regularly scheduled maintenance, which was planned for Monday, August 25. We will provide an update shortly for when the maintenance will be rescheduled. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused by this issue. Thanks for your patience and support. [FIRST UPDATE] Xbox Live has also fallen victim to the same DDOS attackers who took down the PlayStation Network, Blizzard and Riot Games’ League of Legends servers. Xbox Live Support confirmed that Login services have been effected. If you’re already online on Xbox Live, I would recommend not logging off as the issue appears to only be with the login servers as stated on the Xbox Live server status page. The group responsible posted this antagonistic message on their Twitter account moments before gamers reported not being able to login to Xbox Live: “Is anyone having issues with the Xbox Live Login servers?” You can check the current status for Xbox Live servers here and the current status for PlayStation Network servers here. [Original Article] The PlayStation Network has been victim to an ongoing DDOS (Denial-of-service) attack this afternoon. Just hours earlier the group behind the attack took down Blizzard’s World of Warcraft, Diablo III & Hearthstone servers, as well as Riot Games’ League of Legends servers. Some news services are running with click-bait headlines such as ‘The PlayStation Network Has Been Hacked! Is Your Credit Card Information Safe?’ but you have nothing to fear, fair reader. 🙂 Your personal information is perfectly safe and when the service returns, nothing will have changed within your games or settings. The group behind this attack are not hackers. Hacking takes some semblance skill, intelligence and talent, but DDOS attacks are about as dumb as online attacks get. The analogy most commonly used to describe DDOS attacks is “It’s like 1000 fat men trying to fit through a revolving door all at once – nothing moves.” It really is as simple and dumb as someone trying to access a server so many times that the server can’t handle the load and shuts down. However with every news organization linking to the group’s twitter account, they’ve gone from 100 followers to 25 000 within a few hours, which is exactly why they’re doing these attacks. Not for any form of activism for the greater good of the people, but purely for attention. 🙂 The good news, ladies and gents, is that all of your information is absolutely perfectly safe. The bad news is, while it may be extremely frustrating that we can’t play right now, it may be time to dig out some other games for a while. I’m having a blast on Mario Kart 8! 😀 Read more ► Hustle Kings     Hustle Kings Is Coming Soon To PS4 Rack ’em up and get ready to hustle with the king of pool games, originally released for PS3 and PS Vita, now packed with exciting new features for the PS4. Abe is back and he’s Odder than ever in this brand new gameplay footage that showcases the dynamic new visual effects, refined gameplay and explosive new sound design of Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty, a dramatic ground-up remake of the classic Abe’s Oddysee. Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty will be out soon on PS3, PS4 and PS Vita, with PC, Wii U, Mac and Linux to follow. In Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty, the player plays as a character called Abe who is a Mudokon. At the start of the game, an introduction cut scene will play. In the original game, the cut scenes were made using CGI but in New ‘n’ Tasty, the cut scenes will be rendered in the game engine itself. Like the original, the gameplay is going to be a 2.5D sidescrolling platformer. Abe has the ability to talk to his natives who look just like him. The game will have a more enhanced GameSpeak and the characters will have more sayings and responses unlike the old game the character would say one thing. When Abe says “Follow me” to a native, the native will say “Ok!” and Abe must guide it to a bird portal. Abe must chant to open the portal and the Mudokon will run and jump into it. If the player rescues a certain amount of Mudokons, the good ending cut scene will be shown. If the player doesn’t save enough Mudokons, the bad ending will be shown. Abe also has the ability to possess Sligs and when in control it can do exactly what it does when it’s not possesed so that the path can be less dangerous. The first level of the game is called RuptureFarms. It is a meat processing plant where Abe used to work. The intro shows Abe walking around the factory looking at different posters. He finds out from one of the posters that there is something “New ‘n’ Tasty” coming soon. He watches a meeting with Molluck and the Slig and they reveal that the New ‘n’ Tasty treat is going to be Mudokon Pops! Abe gets terrified and he decides to escape and rescue his fellow employees. After escaping RuptureFarms, Abe lands into the StockYards Escape and the Free Fire Zone. The game will then go into more environmental places in Oddworld which are the Monsaic Lines, Paramonia and Scrabania. The player can choose to either do Scrabiana or Paramonia first. Paramonia and Scrabiana feature different enemies. Paramonia have Paramites and Scrabiana have Scrabs. Each temple trials must be completed by lighting the flintlock and finding the bell chime to unlock the exit door. Then the game goes through a more challenging version of Free Fire Zone and RuptureFarms which known as RuptureFarms II where the remaining 49 Mudokons can be rescued. In the second half of RuptureFarms, the game goes through four Zulags which have doors that must be locked in order to continue.
